Another major re-working of data sync. This is about the 3rd or 4th time. It originally used Replicache but has moved to WatermelonDB. There was a brief but ugly period of using both.
The difficulty is in supporting both the app and the website. Neither sync claims to be great at the both of them. In theory Replicache can work in an app but in practice it was always ‘nearly there’ while causing lots of small problems with occasionally big impacts.
Now sync seems to be working and allows most of the app to be used offline which is critical for real world cases where you still need to access trip info when in the middle of nowhere.
